Those historical facts explain the enormous size and scope of government today, and the USA's growing police state.  They are reasons for massive reductions in government, taxation, spending and socialism.

"Stop The Pledge" (STP), a pressure group, works to repeal laws in those states that still retain a daily Pledge ritual in government schools. The group needs help in notifying the public to contribute information (via email at pledge-of-allegiance@earthlink.net or the contact info below) for a study of how many students are taught the whole history of the Pledge; how many students still chant robotically each day; and how many students feel they would be disciplined or persecuted for refusals. Many students say that they sit during the Pledge because they "refuse to kiss the government's butt every morning." Government schools in the USA popularized the straight-arm salute for three decades before, and through, the creation of the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSGWP). People were persecuted for refusing to perform robotic chanting to the national flag at the same time in the USA and Germany (to the American flag, and to the German symbol flag).

The dogma behind the Pledge was the same dogma that led to the socialist Wholecaust (of which the Holocaust was a part): ~60 million slaughtered under the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics; ~50 million under the Peoples' Republic of China; ~20 million under the National Socialist German Workers' Party. It was the worst slaughter of humanity ever.

The author of the Pledge (1892), Francis Bellamy, was a self-proclaimed National Socialist, as was his cousin to Edward Bellamy, author of an international bestseller that launched the Nationalism movement globally. Edward's book was translated into every major language, including German. The Bellamy boys promoted "Military Socialism." They wanted government to take over all schools and impose robotic chanting to flags. When the government granted their wish, government schools imposed segregation by law and taught racism as official policy. That behavior even outlasted German National Socialism.

In addition to the notorious salute, American socialists (e.g. Edward Bellamy teamed with the Theosophical Society) also bear some blame for the notorious symbol used by the National Socialist German Workers Party on its Swastika flag. While Edward and the Theosophical Society worked together, the swastika symbol was used by the Society. It was used as alphabetical symbolism for socialism, and adopted later by German socialists as their flag symbol. The NSGWP had clear roots in National Socialism promoted in the USA.

Although an ancient symbol, the swastika was altered for use as overlapping S-letters for 'socialism.' It was deliberately turned 45 degrees counter clockwise and always oriented in the S-direction. Every journalist who has examined the new discovery has confirmed it: The Pledge of Allegiance was the origin of the straight-arm salute used by the Nazis.  But most journalists are too timid to tell children about the pledge's putrid past, to display old photographs of the pledge's raised-arm salute, or to explain each child's right to reject the daily robotic chanting. Government's schools will not educate children either.

Another school year is here and it is time to teach students about their right to reject the pledge.  The media should try to find the courage to do their duty and inform the public about the anti libertarian pledge and about shocking new historical discoveries. When the government's school rings its bell, children are led in robotic chanting each morning, for twelve years of their lives, like Pavlov's lapdogs of the state.  It is a conditioned reflex that has been a catalyst for violence and persecution.

It is another discovery that has been confirmed by every journalist who has examined it. Hitler altered his own signature to use the same stylized "S" letter for "socialist" and similar alphabetic symbolism still shows on Volkswagens. Hitler altered the flag after his first description of the flag the flag in Mein Kampf (written in 1923 and was published as both volumes in 1925-26). The early German National Socialist Standards had the swastika flat on one side and even pointing in either direction. It was not until 1935 that the current concept of the swastika flag became the official flag of Germany. Many years passed between the vague Mein Kampf comment and the data given in the German Flaggenbuch 1939 and in the VO of 30 December 1933. The Pledge is part of the USA’s growing police-state.  The insane government in the U.S.is twice the size of the prior administration (in social spending alone), financed with enormous taxes, and still bankrupt with massive debt.  The government could cause comatose persons to Pledge dis-allegiance, desecrate the flag, and recite a declaration of independence. The government plays with emotions and it should be [insert something heinous here] for that.  The size of the government, and the history of the pledge, make the pledge a desecration of the flag.  Remove the Pledge from the flag, remove flags from schools, remove schools from government.

Government schools will never teach children about their Pledge rights, nor the truth about the Pledge and its author.

Most comments fail to ever mention that Francis Bellamy and his cousin Edward Bellamy were National Socialists in the USA, wrote for and supported their "Nationalist" and "New Nation" magazines, the "Nationalist Educational Association" and pushed their totalitarian dogma in their "Nationalism" clubs worldwide, including in Germany, and that the bible of their movement, Edward Bellamy's book "Looking Backward" was translated into every major language including the languages of those countries that became home to totalitarian socialism and the socialist Wholecaust (of which the Holocaust was a part) under the National Socialist German Workers' Party (21 million dead), the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (62 million dead), and the Peoples' Republic of China (35 million dead).  It is easy to see why anyone would want to cover all of that up, but it should not be covered up.

In the USA, the Bellamy dogma supported a government takeover of education.  The government's schools imposed segregation by law and taught racism as official policy.  The USA's behavior was an example for three decades before the Nazis. As under Nazism, the Jehovah's Witnesses, and blacks and the Jewish and others in the USA attended government schools that dictated segregation, taught racism, and persecuted children who refused to perform the straight-arm salute and robotically chant the Pledge. Some kids were expelled from government schools and had to use the many better alternatives.  There were acts of violence. When Jesse Owens competed in the 1936 Olympics in Germany, his neighbors attended segregated government schools where they saluted the flag with the Nazi salute.  The U.S. practice of official racism even outlasted the horrid party.  And the schools and the Pledge still exist. The Pledge is still the most visible sign of the USA's growing police state.  

After segregation in government's schools ended, the Bellamy legacy caused more police-state racism of forced busing that destroyed communities and neighborhoods and deepened hostilities.

Bellamy was a self-proclaimed national socialist in the USA, with the "Nationalist" magazine, and he preached what he called "military socialism."  The federal flag darkens schools because Bellamy wanted government to take over all schools and to eliminate all of the better alternatives.  Worse, Bellamy wanted the government to take over everything, not just schools. He wanted the government to impose the military system on all of society. School flags are a symbol of  nationalization, militarism, and socialism.

The Bellamy dogma was the same dogma that led to the socialist Wholecaust (of which the Holocaust was a part): 62 million killed under the former Union of Soviet Socialist Republics; 49 million under the Peoples' Republic of China; 21 million under the National Socialist German Workers' Party.  It was so bad that Holocaust Museums could quadruple in size with Wholecaust Museums to document the entire slaughter.

Some schools in the USA are still named after Francis Bellamy.  The Bellamy schools should be re-named because they send the wrong message to children and the community.  It causes emotional distress to children who attend schools named after a man who popularized the Nazi salute and who helped the government institutionalize racism and segregation.  I, and my supporters, will also assist in any legal means to defray the cost of re-naming Bellamy schools.

If government's schools (and the media) told the true history of the Pledge, then no student would chant it. If Americans knew the truth, then the Pledge would cease to exist.

Fight the flag hags and their flag fetish. Government's schools should not teach children to verbally fellate flags each morning. It is like a brainwashed cult of the omnipotent state, conditioning Pavlovian responses in youngsters. For adults it is childish. The Pledge of Allegiance is emotional masturbation. Remove the Pledge from the flag, remove flags from schools, remove schools from government.
