Legalize ticket scalping

News stories about the "scalping" of tickets at the NCAA Final Four games serves as a reminder that scalping should be legalized.

As Libertarians say, the purpose of government is only to protect people and their property from the violence and theft of others.

On the issue of scalping, the government is the hypocritical violator of the rights of scalpers.

"Scalpers" are merely people who purchase tickets and then resell them at agreed prices.

The government jails scalpers for reselling their own property, and their tickets and profits are taken.

At the same time, our government builds socialized sports facilities with taxes taken from those who object. It is all the complete reverse of what is right.

Of course the only apparent difference between an illegal "scalper" and a legal "broker" is a piece of paper - a license bought with a fee paid to the government.

And the media (with a completely straight face) reports the government "crackdown" on the "criminals" who scalp tickets, and then reports that ticket seekers should locate "brokers."

It produces contempt for laws, the government and the media.
