GERMAN AMERICAN BUND! NAZI SALUTE, HITLER SALUTE, FASCIST SALUTE
The German-American Bund or German American Federation was a fraternal American organization established in the 1930s as a merger of two older organizations, the National Socialist German Workers Party (NSDAP) and the Free Society of Teutonia, both of which were small groups with only a few hundred members each. NSDAP member Heinz Sponknobel eventually consolidated the two groups into the Friends of New Germany.

Pledge of Allegiance to the flag The Pledge of Allegiance (& the military salute) was the origin of Adolf Hitler's "Nazi" salute under the National Socialist German Workers Party (Nazis).  http://rexcurry.net/pledgesalute.html

Francis Bellamy & Edward Bellamy touted National Socialism and the police state in the USA decades before their dogma was exported to Germany. They influenced the NSDAP, its dogma, symbols and rituals. http://rexcurry.net/police-state.html
The swastika, although an ancient symbol, was also used to represent "S" letters joined for "socialism" under the National Socialist German Workers Party (Nazis), similar to the alphabetical symbolism for the SS Division, the SA, the NSV, and the VW logo (the letters "V" and "W" joined for "Volkswagen"). http://rexcurry.net/bookchapter4a1a2a1.html

GERMAN AMERICAN BUND!

Government inside the U.S. promoted socialized schools, military socialism within government schools, the creation of industrial armies, and daily robotic pledges of allegiance in military formation with the infamous straight-arm salute (the Nazi salute).  Francis Bellamy and his cousin and cohort, the author Edward Bellamy, were self-proclaimed national socialists in the U.S. who promoted "military socialism" and the straight-armed salute, and they did it 3 decades before the Nazis.

Help fund the education about liberty in history, and how it has been endangered by government and socialism.

German-American Bund Movement

The horrid National Socialist German Workers' Party was inspired by German-Americans who were already national socialists in the United States. Many of them joined the German American Bund movement (Deutsch-Amerikanischer Volksbund) to support national socialists in Germany before WWII.  The bund began as the Friends of New Germany in Chicago in 1933. This group traced its roots to the Teutonia Society and National Socialist Party, both active in the USA during the 1920s.

It is important to remember that during all that time the group's members, like most U.S. citizens, attended racist and segregated government schools and saluted with a straight-arm salute toward the U.S. flag, as written by the self-proclaimed national socialist Francis Bellamy, long before the adoption of the salute by the National Socialist German Workers' Party.

As with all Bellamy national socialists, this organization claimed to be "100% American" and to support the Constitution, the flag and a "truly free America." The Bund held large and popular rallies throughout the United States, and ran summer camps for youths which were modeled upon the camps of the National Socialist German Workers' Party.

In 1936 Hitler invaded the Rhineland and the Sudetenland. National Socialism had grown so much in the USA that Fritz Kuhn, the head of the German-American Bund, and a few of his followers, visited Germany that same year  in Berlin for the 1936 Summer Olympics. During his visit Kuhn was offered to come to the Reichs chancellery and have his picture taken with the leader of the National Socialist German Workers' Party.

The straight-armed salute of the National Socialist German Workers Party came from the original pledge of allegiance to the U.S. flag as first published in the magazine "Youth's Companion" in 1892 by the self-proclaimed national socialist Francis Bellamy.  Francis Bellamy, and his also-famous cousin Edward Bellamy, supported a government takeover of all schools, and a flag over every school, in order to promote national socialism.  Those views resulted in nationwide government policies of racism and segregation.  Children used the “sieg heil” gesture for flags flying over racist government schools through the rise of Nazism (the hand-over-the-heart spread in 1942).  The bizarre practices served as an example for three decades before they were adopted by the National Socialist German Workers’ Party.  The U.S. practice of segregation even outlasted the horrid party, into the 1960's and beyond.  That is why the Bellamys are known as the “American Hitlers” and as the first “American Nazis.” http://rexcurry.net/pledge1.html

Germans learned bad American behavior via old films, via WWI, and via the widespread use of the straight-arm salute by German-American groups in the USA, that  led to its adoption later by the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (Nazi Party).

Most articles about the German-American Bund contain the idiotic remark that the Bund had rallies filled with "Nazi salutes."  They are completely ignorant of the fact that the original pledge of allegiance at that time used the straight-armed salute.  There is only one website with articles about the Bund that doesn't suffer from that rampant ignorance: http://rexcurry.net/pledgebund.html

The History Channel shows the documentary "Nazi America: A Secret History."  It tells the story of German-Americans who supported the National Socialist German Workers' Party and tried to organize support within the U.S.A before WWII in a group known as the German-American Bund.

The documentary is supposed to be factual but suffers from many deficiencies:

The full phrase "National Socialist German Workers' Party" was apparently never mentioned, definitely not discussed.  They constantly use the hackneyed abbreviation, as if they don't want you to know the true full phrase.

The film mentions that the bund opposed the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, and then notes that the bund disbanded not long after the start of WWII.  The film does not mention that the National Socialist German Workers' Party joined as allies with the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics to invade Poland in 1939, in a pact to divide up Europe.

The film shows Bund gatherings where Bund members display the flag of the National Socialist German Workers' Party alongside the flag of the U.S. and the Bund members salute with a straight-arm salute using the right arm.  The documentary never explains that the Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S. flag at that time used a straight-arm salute like that of the National Socialist GermanWorkers' Party, and such had been the case for three decades before the National Socialist German Workers' Party.  The documentary does not explain whether the Bund members are pledging allegiance to the U.S. flag or saluting the flag of the National Socialist German Workers' Party, or saluting the U.S. flag, or trying to do both at the same time.  If the producers of the documentary knew that the straight-arm salute was used for the U.S. flag, then the question is raised whether the segment was designed to deliberately mislead viewers.  If the producers of the documentary did not know, then one can imagine their ignorant exclamation as they selected the archive film footage, "Those daft German-Americans are saluting the U.S. flag with the Nazi salute!"  It would have been more accurate to exclaim "Those daft German National Socialists are saluting the German flag with the U.S. salute, created by an American National Socialist!"   http://rexcurry.net/pledge1.html

The documentary never explains that the Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S. flag was written by a socialist in the nationalism movement in the U.S. and he was a bigot and he promoted the idea of an "industrial army" run by the government, and he did so three decades before the National Socialist German Workers' Party. http://rexcurry.net/pledge_military.html

Nazism: Made in the USA.

In 1919 Anton Drexler, Gottfried Feder and Dietrich Eckart formed the German Worker's Party (GPW) in Munich. After Adolf Hitler joined, he proposed changing the name of the German Workers’ Party.  Rudolf Jung insisted that the party should follow the pattern of Austria's Deutsche Nationalsozialistische Arbeiterpartei. As a consequence, the German Workers’ Party was shortly renamed the National Socialist German Workers’ Party.  Jung supplied the party with a ready-made ideology that he carried with him from Czechoslovakia.  All of those sources had been influenced by Bellamy dogma.

The National Socialist German Workers' Party was also inspired by German-Americans who were already national socialists in the U.S. and who joined the German-American Bund movement to support national socialists in Germany before WWII. http://rexcurry.net/pledgebund.html

Edward Bellamy wrote the international bestseller "Looking Backward" in 1887. It was translated into every major language, including German.  In 1892, Edward's cousin and cohort, Francis Bellamy, created the Pledge of Allegiance. Both Bellamys touted what they called "military socialism" and they were part of the Nationalism movement, and they wanted all of society to ape the military. The Pledge originally began with a military salute that then extended out toward the flag.  The straight-armed gesture of the early salute was the origin of the hard stylized salute of German National Socialists.  The Nazi salute is an extended military salute via Francis Bellamy and the Pledge of Allegiance.

Bellamy ideas inspired hate-spewing socialists and para-military societies throughout the socialist Wholecaust (of which the Holocaust was a part): the horrid National Socialist German Workers' Party (21 million dead); the People's Republic of China (49 million dead) and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (62 million dead). (Death tolls from Professor R. J. Rummel's book "Death by Government" which is also available).

The National Socialist German Workers’ Party had been in existence since 1920 (with electoral breakthroughs in 1930 and dictatorship in 1933) and the invasion of Poland in WWII in 1939 (as allies with the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics in a pact to divide up Europe).

The influence of Bellamy ideas and U.S. socialists can be seen in the 25 point program of the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (NSDAP), including those enumerated at the end of this article.

The USA’s worst president, the socialist Franklin Delano Roosevelt, imposed national socialism in the U.S., along with socialist slave numbers (social security) in 1935 as a workers program for Roosevelt’s vision of the industrial army that coincided with similar numbering programs of the National Socialist German Workers’ Party.   During that time children in government-schools were required by law to salute the flag with the straight-armed salute in military formation daily on the ring of a government bell, like Pavlov’s lapdogs of the state.

National Socialism, military socialism and the industrial army only worsened in the USA.  Today, children are given socialist slave numbers at birth and cannot enter the government-school system without them.  The numbers are used for surveillance of the entire population by tracking movement, travel, residency, employment, income and everything lifelong, stealing from everyone constantly for industrial army veterans.  Socialized schools have only grown in size, scope and spending and there are still laws that require teachers to lead classes in robotic chanting of the pledge in military formation daily on the ring of a government bell, like Pavlov’s lapdogs of the state.  The USA has widespread socialism, innumerable government programs and laws, massive government spending, massive debt, and assembly-line searches in a police state.

Roosevelt’s national socialism coincided with the 1938 publication of “Talks on Nationalism” by Edward Bellamy.  It is a terrifying look at how socialists in the USA inspired Nazism (the National Socialist German Workers’ Party).  Edward Bellamy died in 1898, but people put this book together in 1938 to widen Bellamy ideas worldwide, in the USA (under Roosevelt’s national socialism), and in Germany via the Nazis.

The invasion of Poland in WWII occurred in 1939, with the National Socialist German Workers’ Party and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics as allies in their scheme to divide up Europe.

The spread of Bellamy ideas was also reinforced in 1937 when additional writings were published in “Edward Bellamy Speaks Again!”

Both Bellamy books are like most books about the Bellamys in that they deceitfully avoid use of the full phrase "National Socialist German Workers' Party" and the fact that Bellamy was a self-proclaimed national socialist. That type of writing bias inspired the "Not say Nazi" movement via people who never say or write the abbreviations and who always use the full phrase, in an effort to counter-act the rampant ignorance of journalists and writers, and the ignorance they spread to the general public.

Most people do not realize that German National Socialists did not refer to themselves using the shorthand term that is common in the USA.

A good mnemonic device for remembering that Nazis were socialists (and you'll need to remember for most books on the topic) is that the swastika, although an ancient symbol, was used sometimes by German National Socialists to two represent intertwined "S" letters for their "socialism" and the NSGWP often used stylized "S" symbolism.

Another national socialist cohort of Edward Bellamy was his cousin Francis Bellamy, author of the pledge of allegiance to the U.S. flag (1892).  Most books and articles on the pledge’s history fail to mention that the original salute to the flag was a straight-armed salute and contain no historic photo of the original salute. Most journalists cover-up the pledge’s poisonous past and that is why the mainstream media did not make the news-breaking discovery that the pledge of allegiance was the origin of the salute of the horrid National Socialist German Workers' Party, as exposed by the Professor Rex Curry.

The common claim that the gesture was an old Roman salute is a myth. It would make more sense to say that it was "Roman" in the sense that Francis Bellamy was from Rome, N.Y. and sometimes used the term "Roman" to refer to his hometown. More likely, it was a product of Hollywood in old movies that depicted ancient Rome and the salute, with no basis in reality.

A fan writes: "Americans performed the Nazi salute to honor visiting German dignitaries in the 1930's. Newsreel footage of the funerals for the victims of the Hindenburg show thousands of American well-wishers doing the 'Nazi style' salute."

[Of course, at that time it was still the "American salute" being compelled by law in government schools every day with robotic chanting to the flag]

German American Bund http://rexcurry.net/pledgeofallegiance-german-american-bund.bmp
Pledge of Allegiance, German American Bund, Edward Bellamy, Francis Bellamy, Swastikas
The USA originated flag fanaticism, robotic group-chanting to flags, Nazism, Nazi salutes, and the modern swastika as alphabetical symbolism, as shown in the jaw-dropping discoveries of the noted historian Dr. Rex Curry (author of "Pledge Of Allegiance Secrets").

Americans helped to spread the stiff-arm salute through various organizations, including the German-American Bund. The bund operated "Camp Siegfried" in Long Island, New York. A photograph shows a train called the "Camp Siegfried Special" as it pulls into Yaphank station at the German American Bund camp in Long Island, New York. People standing outside of the train greet it with the stiff-arm salute. http://rexcurry.net/pledgeofallegiance-german-american-bund.bmp

It is another example of how America's early stiff-arm salute was spreading outside of its origin in the Pledge of Allegiance, and was even used as a  general greeting.
http://rexcurry.net/pledge-of-allegiance-images.html

The train would pull out of Penn Station at 8 a.m. every Sunday, carrying thousands of bundists from the greater New York area and other cities.

The author Marvin D. Miller has written the book "Wunderlich's salute: The Interrelationship of the German-American Bund, Camp Siegfried, Yaphank, Long Island, and the Young Siegfrieds and Their Relationship with American and Nazi Institutions."  The title, before the book is opened, raises a red flag about overuse of the shorthand N-word, and about widespread ignorance of word's actual meaning: National Socialist German Workers Party. Research by the historian Dr. Rex Curry (author of "Pledge of Allegiance Secrets") shows that the swastika was used as overlapping S-letters for "socialism" under the National Socialist German Workers' Party.  Dr. Curry's work also shows that the early Pledge of Allegiance (written by a National Socialists in the U.S.) used a stiff-arm salute and that it was the origin of the salute adopted later by German National Socialists.

Ernest Mueller, president of the German-American Settlement League, was indicted with five others in Riverhead on charges that the League and Camp Siegfried were part of the bund, which required members to swear an oath of allegiance to the leader of the National Socialist German Workers Party. The state contended, therefore, that the German-American Settlement League had violated state law by failing to file its list of members, who had sworn loyalty to a foreign power.

Mueller and the others went on trial in Riverhead, where a witness named Willie Brandt testified that he had sworn his "loyalty and obedience"' to the German National Socialist leader. Then, a 45-year-old shipping clerk named Martin Wunderlich took the stand and demonstrated the stiff-armed salute used at the camp.

"That is an American salute?" asked the prosecutor Lindsey Henry.

"It will be," Wunderlich said.

That response is said to have sent "chills" through the jurors, who returned a guilty verdict. Chills can be difficult to see or verify, and the description seems exaggerated due to the fact that stiff-arm salute was an American salute, even at that time. The dramatic story more likely springs from the imagination of someone who does not know that the salute originated in America via an American National Socialist, and was the origin of the salute adopted later by German National Socialists. Knowing the truth about the American salute also puts an entirely different spin on the prosecutor's question.

Today, historical films evoke surprise by showing the stiff-arm salute performed by Bundists toward both the American flag and the German Swastika flag. The films always fail to mention that the stiff-arm salute was the salute to the American flag where it originated long before Germans adopted it.

The socialist dogma led to the Wholecost (of which the Holocaust was a part): the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, 60 million people slaughtered; the People's Republic of China, 50 million; and the National Socialist German Workers' Party, 20 million.

Mueller's court decision was later set aside and never taken to the State Court of Appeals. But by then, the issue was moot. In the summer of 1939, the camp had lost its liquor license and many of its followers. Then, the National Socialist German Workers Party joined as allies with the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics in a pact to divide up Europe and they invaded Poland together in September 1939. The woodland campground was deserted and out of business.

In Camp Siegfried's heyday, bundists paraded with their hakenkreuz banners. Fritz Kuhn, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Germany, and head of the Bund, spoke of the camp as part of "Germany in America."  http://rexcurry.net/german-american-bund-camp-siegfried-yaphank2.jpg

In the end, Kuhn spent the war in a detention camp (in Texas) with about 40 Siegfrieders.

Then, in 1945, he was deported to West Germany.

Kuhn was sentenced in Germany to 10 years in prison for his prewar activites. Kuhn died in 1951 in Munich. "Who would have known it would end like this?'' he said to one of his jailers just before he died.

The court case of Frank Herbert Wonschik v.
